Founded in 1987 Coolaroo celebrates 21 years of focussed Alpaca breeding into production of true high density fleece types, with advanced attributes of lustre, alignment and extreme softness, hand in hand with animals exhibiting excellence in frame, confirmation and fertility.
Established by a combination of sheep breeding families, the stud first imported 7 mystical beasts onto Coolaroo that has now grown into 600 head, including a specialist grey herd, a fawn herd and white herd. Each has been bred for generations utilising advanced breeding techniques, SRS© and Embryo Transfer procedures. Alpacas from these herds have been exported worldwide.
The stud is recognised for applying a scientific approach to the breeding of championship quality alpaca, and its visionary approach in overseeing the production of fine fibre and garments to establish an integrated alpaca industry, and the ongoing support and educational service offered to clients. …more
